Requirements
Secondary Education
Possession of at least a HIGCSE Grade 12, or equivalent qualification,
with matriculation exemption is required to be admitted to South African
universities, and a HIGCSE/IGCSE Grade 12, or equivalent qualification,
with passes in five subjects and a minimum of 25 points on the UNAM point
evaluation scale, is needed to enrol at UNAM.

Tertiary Education
A B. - degree with Psychology/Industrial Psychology as a major subject
must be obtained at a university for further training as psychometrist.
The minimum qualification for registration with the HPCSA as psychometrist
is a Honours degree in Psychology/Industrial Psychology.
It is a requirement
that the candidate completes a necessary period of internship with an
accredited institution, before he/she can register as a psychometrist.
Personality
The prospective psychometrist should be empathic, responsible, and friendly
and have the ability to organize and relate to people in all situations.
A rational approach is a prerequisite.
Work Opportunities
Psychometrists are employed in the public and private sector. A psychometrist
is not allowed to start his/her own business but must always work under
the supervision and control of a registered psychologist.
