Veterinary Hygiene Inspector
A veterinary hygiene inspector specializes in hygiene and supervision
of institutions, which handle animals and animal products.

Assisting the veterinarian on supervisory level in controlling, evaluating
anad reporting functions.
- Training, evaluating and controlling subordinate staff.
- Evaling, checking for correctness of records, procedures, claims
of subordinate staff or the establishing and implemeting corrective ations
where required.
- Assisting in verifying compliance with hygiene and other import requirements
by taking samples, evaluating findings, ontrol labels/stamps and keeping
records as required.

Assisting the chief vetrinary hygiene inspector and the veterinarian in writing
reports e.g. personnel reportd, monthly returns and deficiency reports.
- Reporting unhygienic/unacceptable condiitions or procedures.
- Excercising good control over detained and condemned material as required.
- Assisting the veterinarian in budgetary and stock control measures.
An H/IGSCE Certificate ( Grade 12) with Nmathematics and Biology.
Tertiary Education
Training for veterinary hygiene inspectors os offered in Namibia (Neudamm Agricultural College) and other universities across the region. Anational dimploma in Meat technology or a national diploma in Environment Health is requuired for veterinary hygiene inspector. A B.tech Environment Health/Meat Hygiiene is strongly recomended.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
A prospective veterinary hygiene inspector should be meticulous, vigilant and willing to work hard.
WORK OPPORTUNITIES
veterinary hygiene inspectors can be employed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Rural development, in private and commercial areas involved in food processing for both animal and human consumption. Job oppurtunities seem to be good.
