Hai Ti! wins World Summit Youth Award!
SchoolNet Namibia has once again been awarded
for the work it is doing to bring Information Communication Technologies
(ICTs) closer to the people. Hai Ti!, the comic series produced
by SchoolNet, Strika and OpenLab International, was awarded 3rd
place in the Community Engagement Category of the 2005 World
Summit Youth Awards (WSYA) scheduled to take place at the UN
World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS)
in Tunisia in mid-November. more

SchoolNet Namibia and Sida renew Cooperation
Agreement
Monday 29 August 2005, Windhoek. SchoolNet Namibia
and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)
have signed a new cooperation agreement which will allow SchoolNet
Namibia to extend internet access and decentralise technical support
services to under-served schools throughout Namibia. more.

Overall achievements
SchoolNet has achieved an incredible
amount. In just over two years, SchoolNet has launched an ISP,
successfully connected around 112 schools to this ISP, and set
up computer laboratories in these schools. It has also shown
how these can be done in rural and disadvantaged areas there
are neither telephone lines nor connections to the power grid. more

Hai Ti :SchoolNet says it's time to
listen up and go digital!
WINDHOEK. SchoolNet Namibia is
taking a bold new step to entice teachers and students into the
digital world. SchoolNet has teamed up with Direq International,
Strika Entertainment and The Namibian Youth Paper to produce
and distribute Hai Ti!, a comic strip that spreads the word about
the ways that computers and the internet can transform learners'
and teachers' lives. more
