Accessing Squirrelmail outside the school

Teachers and students will be able to access their mail by going to http://mail.myschool.latis.net.au
then providing their LATIS User ID and password.

NOTE: 'myschool' indicates your school's Internet name which is the first 5 characters
of the school name followed by the relevant identifier:

hs = high school
as = area school
cec = community education centre
soa = school of the air
sch = all other schools

examples:
Taminmin High School = 'taminhs'
Parap Primary School = 'parapsch'

Saving Sent Messages

Once you have sent a message in SquirrelMail you can go back and retrieve it from
your 'INBOX Sent' folder.

However in SquirrelMail you are not able to go back to your message when a sending
error occurs. If you have composed a long message it is a good idea to highlight the message you have written and press 'Ctrl+C
' to copy it to your clipboard before
clicking 'send'.

That way if there is a sending error, you can simply open a new 'compose' window
and paste the clipboard message back in by pressing 'Ctrl+V'. It saves you having
to retype your message again.

Alternatively you can type up your message in StarOffice and copy from that
document into SquirrelMail.

Making a Custom Shortcut to
SquirrelMail on your Desktop

1. Once you are at the login page for Squirrel Mail, select 'File' then 'Send' then 'Shortcut to Desktop'.

click on the picture to enlarge

2.Right click on the shortcut icon then select 'Rename' to
rename it (e.g. My Mail).

3. Right click on the shortcut icon again then select 'Properties'.

Choose the 'Web Document' tab and click on 'Change Icon' at the bottom.

4. You can choose one of the custom icons available, or if you're feeling more adventurous, make one of your own. (e.g. scan in a photo of a loved one, your child's recent artwork, clip art, etc.).
