A large number of schools, and the
teacher training colleges, in Namibia have been using ICT facilities
- computers, OpenLab software
and internet access - provided by SchoolNet Namibia, in conjunction
with training courses on ICT management, literacy and ICT/classroom
integration.
Through the medium
of our weekly comic, "Hai
Ti!" in the Namibian Youth Paper, we try
to encourage teachers to use ICTs in the classroom, and help
to localise and "Namibianise" resource
materials such as text books, activity worksheets and
lesson plans for subjects in the national
curriculum.
This competition is aimed especially at teachers, lecturers, student
teachers and subject developers in Namibia. We would like to see your
ideas and creativity, using computers, various software applications
and the internet, result in some wonderful new activity worksheets which
you can share with other teachers in Namibia, using the Internet and/or
other information media which can be easily and innovatively reproduced
and distributed!
As a reward, SchoolNet Namibia and its sponsors will send the top ten
Worksheet producers to the International "Innovations
in Education" conference to be held in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal
from 28 - 30 September 2005, with all expenses
paid.
Winners will also
have opportunity to participate in a comprehensive "E-Learning
Development and Implementation" Training and Certification
course offered by UNAM, Polytechnic, NIED and NAMCOL tutors,
in collaboration with InWent and the Namibian Open-Learning Network
Trust.
